At New Leaf, we open at 8AM every single day of the year. Here’s why that decision wasn’t an accident, and why we think it’s one of the most important ones we’ve made.

Most Dispensaries Weren’t Built Around Your Schedule

The standard dispensary model borrowed a lot from traditional retail: open mid-morning, close by early evening, keep things comfortable for people with conventional schedules. But cannabis customers don’t run on retail hours. They’re nurses finishing overnight shifts. They’re contractors who start before sunrise. They’re parents who have exactly thirty minutes between school drop-off and their first meeting. They’re people who simply prefer to handle things early, before the rest of the day layers on.

When a dispensary in Massachusetts opens at 10 or 11AM, it isn’t a neutral policy. It’s a quiet statement that says: if your schedule is unusual, if mornings are the only window you have – that’s not our concern.

We didn’t think that was the right way to run a neighborhood business.

Convenience Is Access

There’s a simple idea behind New Leaf’s hours: access shouldn’t depend on what your day looks like.

Fall River is a working city. People here are on the water at dawn, in warehouses before six, managing households while the rest of the state is still hitting snooze. They’ve waited a long time for a licensed, legitimate, welcoming place to shop – and they shouldn’t have to keep reshuffling their lives around a dispensary’s schedule on top of everything else.

Opening at 8AM is a small thing that makes a meaningful difference. It means if you have forty-five minutes before work, you can use them here. It means a stop on the way to somewhere else is actually workable. It means you don’t have to choose between your schedule and your purchase. No one should have to.

The word that comes up a lot in conversations with our team is convenience – and convenience isn’t a luxury feature. For a lot of people, it’s the difference between a dispensary that works for their life and one that doesn’t.

We Stay Open Until 11PM, Too

The 8AM opening gets the attention, but our 11PM close matters just as much.

Evening hours serve a different set of people – folks who work late shifts, who are out in the neighborhood, who want to stop in after dinner without watching the clock. Most dispensaries in the area close at 8 or 9PM. We stay open two to three hours past that, every single night.

From the beginning, our goal was to build something that fit Fall River’s actual rhythms – not a version of this city that only exists between 10AM and 8PM. That’s a seven-hour window. We offer fifteen. Early risers and night owls welcome.

Fall River Runs on Early Mornings

There’s a particular kind of city that moves before the rest of the state wakes up. Fall River has always been one of them.

The waterfront, the trades, the restaurants, the manufacturing floors – this city has a long history of getting to work early and doing things right. And for a long time, anyone in Fall River who wanted to visit a licensed dispensary either traveled far or planned their day around someone else’s hours.

New Leaf is Fall River’s own – at 360 Second Street and at 2629 South Main Street. We were built here, staffed by people who live here, and we open when this city does. That feels less like a business decision and more like basic respect for the community we’re part of.
